What to expect

Portobello Road runs for about 1.7 km through Notting Hill and has had a market since around 1863. The antiques market is the main draw, and on Saturdays all five sections open. Fruit, vegetables and other food stalls also sell on Saturdays, and clothing and fashion stalls are a big part of the market too.

The best way to see it is to walk the length of the street. Antiques are the focus on Saturdays, fruit and vegetable stalls sell food, and second-hand clothes and bric-a-brac stalls are found further north near the Westway flyover. The street was the setting for the film Notting Hill in 1999, and a replica of its blue door draws visitors. It is busiest on Saturday and calmer during the week.
