What to expect

SEA LIFE London Aquarium sits in County Hall on the South Bank, next to the London Eye. It opened in 1997, moved to a different part of County Hall in 2015, and has more than two million litres of water in its tanks, holding hundreds of species of fish and sea creatures.

You follow a set route through themed zones past tanks and displays. A glass tunnel called Shark Walk takes you underneath the sharks, and there is a penguin exhibit with gentoo penguins. The visit is indoors and often dimly lit, which makes it a reliable choice on a wet day, especially with younger children. Most people spend about an hour and a half.
