What to expect

The Bermondsey Beer Mile is an informal chain of craft breweries, taprooms and bottle shops in railway arches in Bermondsey. It began around 2009, when The Kernel opened the first brewery in the area. There is no official route, ticket or single owner, and the exact list of venues varies by source and year. Southwark Brewing Company on Druid Street is a common starting point.

You walk from arch to arch, stopping for a half pint or a full one. Some places, such as The Arch House on Druid Street, feel like pubs, while The Barrel Project brews experimental beers in a barrel-lined arch. Saturday is the busiest day. Many taprooms open only on certain days, so choose a route first and check each opening day.
